With the premise of respecting the protection zone of historical architectures, this scheme preserves the entire style of Shikumen new lane in the southwest corner of the base for special stores; furthermore, the stores alongside Changle Road and Ruijin Road retain the Shikumen styles. Only the interiors of the new lanes are repaired and a few small courtyards are arranged to accommodate the merchants; moreover, the north and east sides of the Shikumen are decorated with modern methods as a transition between new and old architectures.
The preserved villas within the base are removed to southeast corner, along the street for reconstruction. As the area is mainly occupies by high-grade commerce and centralized offices, there retains the continuation of the Changle Road Shikumen-style facade as well as adds particular external linkage to the functions within the villas, making the villa's functional orientation and environmental position complement each other.
The facade of the newly-built commercial office building mainly adopts modern style, while in the podiums near the Shikumen group, small-scale facade design is adopted to correspond with the scale of Shikumen group, making the commercial facade more diversified at the same time. The office tower and the podium buildings are integrated, where the facade complies with the general current, flowing from the air atrium at the top of every tower through the facade to the top of podiums. Coupling method is adopted in designing the top of the two towers, making the two towers corresponding to each other.
